After a couple weeks in Brenda, AZ, I headed over to my brothers place in Rosamond, outside of Edwards AFB. My plan is to park in my friend’s yard next door to my brothers place and connect to his electric. But first I have to get there, so today is a travel day.
It is just a few miles from the RV park I’m staying at in Brenda to I-10 and here’s a pic of the countryside. It’s a bit remote, but I like it that way. Brenda is little more than a post office. Really not much around.
And pretty soon, I’m on the I-10 freeway.
Lots of desert around here.
Around noon, I pulled off to this truck stop, convenience store, restaurant place. They have a old timey car display at an old gas station that’s been here for decades too.
There’s the name of the place. Has an old and rich history. Some Hispanic family settled here and built it all up as a travelers rest stop several decades ago. A really nice antique painting that I would have loved to buy, but I don’t have any space for it. Not a single blank wall in my RV big enough to accommodate it. Close up it is spectacular. I tried to get lunch at the restaurant but after waiting 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that I was there, I gave up and walked across the street in the rain to the convenience store to buy something for lunch. There was a downpour going on at the time and I only had on my sandals so had to wait until it cleared. Didn’t take long, but it was annoying. On the way back to my RV, checked out another antique. Back on the road. No more rain so that was good. Ominous clouds though. Couple hours later I’m at a National Park that features these giant rocks.
And later that same day, I’m parked and set up at Brennan’s place, just down the slope from my brothers.
And there’s my brother’s house just up the hill.
All set up and settled in. Even have the antenna up and the LR slide extended. There’s Dan’s car in his driveway. And his front yard. BTW, he’s going to be selling soon so if you’re looking for a house in Rosamond, CA, it’s available. This is his backyard. There’s a whatchacallit place up there to look out into the valley. The patio…
And the side of the house looking towards the driveway and roadway.
I wandered up the stairs to the whatchacallit place. Pools empty. You can see what the view would be like at night with all the lights in the valley. On the other side of his back yard, you can look down onto my RV. There use to be a 12′ X 12′ building here, but they had a wind storm so strong a few weeks ago, it tore the building off its floor and tossed it into Brennan’s driveway. Huh. You can just see the driveway next to my RV in the above picture where it landed. And here’s the Studebaker project car in Dan’s garage I’ve shown in other posts. When I walked out into the garage this time to look at it, it had a spider web from several places on the top of the hood, down to the radiator. That’s how long it’s been since Dan worked on it. Well, whatever, it’s his project. So what I do on a day to day basis, is spend the night in Dan’s house in the master bedroom (he doesn’t use it because he use to have a renter in there who smoked and the smell bugs him), then head out to my RV in the morning, spend most of the day there on the internet, then watch a couple hours of TV, or head down to the bar for a couple, then back to Dan’s and go to bed. Kind of a routine. Of course Dan and I go out for dinner and a couple beers a time or two, and so do Brennan and I, but, it doesn’t cost much staying here. I pay Brennan $40 per week for electric. And I usually leave Dan something before I leave. It’s a fair arrangement we have going. Saves me a bundle too.
Next time, Brennan and I go sailing, again. See you then!
