Leaking Pressure Switch…

Noticed that the hydraulic pressure switch appeared to be leaking a small amount of oil out of the back end. July 2018.

Update: Oct. 2020

This pressure switch never appeared to leak any more oil. I think that oil ended up there some other way and wasn’t a leak.

Here’s an overall shot of the HWH assembly under the living room slide.

Here’s a close up with the pressure switch labeled.

After inspecting this device, I couldn’t find where that oil had come from. There was a drop or two inside that rubber boot. That’s the only indication that there might be a leak. But wiped the oil off, put it back into the manifold and operated the slides a couple times didn’t reveal any further leaking. So I guess some tech had splashed some oil in there once while working on it. I did find some specs about the pressure switch. It’s P/N is RAP2082 and it’s a 50 PSI switch. It’s part of the HWH 305-310 series Leveling System with straight-acting Jacks.

Was able to remove it without oil spraying out of the manifold and I was going to replace it with a universal but after wiping off the oil, it didn’t leak during tests so there was no need. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

One Response to Leaking Pressure Switch…

  1. Bill Ravens says:

Here’s the thing, if it’s leaking, either the switch, itself, has failed, or is about to fail. So, you risk getting your slide room stuck when the transducer finally fails, probably on the road.

Thanks for the advice, Bill. That article was published back in July of 2018 (over 2 years ago now) and I’ve not seen any further evidence of a leak from that switch. I did all the research on it and found the part number and replacement source and didn’t want to lose that info and thought my readers with similar HWH hydraulic systems might benefit from the info so I wrote the article about it. I was lucky that the oil must have come from somewhere else as I’ve never had a problem with that pressure switch.
