Holding Tanks…

This section will contain articles about the Black/Grey holding tank bay. In the case of this ’02 Journey, it’s the bay where both of the tanks are visible edge on, and where the 3″ drain pipe from each tank goes to two bayonet valves, and then come together and ‘Y’ down to the drain outlet. The black tank holds sewage, the grey tank holds kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower water. So it’s not as nasty…but if you’ve ever smelled it you’d know to avoid it.

Here’s a look at the Holding Tank Bay. It’s plastic which is nice…easy to clean. You can see where the pipes had leaks as there are mineral tracks on the pipes. They’ve been plugged with minerals for all the years I’ve owned the RV so not going to worry about them. The valves are working nice, and I spray lubricant up to them on occasion.

Then the articles will also include a setup for long sewage runs…too far for your typical ‘stinky slinky’ as they are called by RV’ers. Using the Sewer Solution V that I bought back in ’06. I’ve been carrying it all these years and have used it many times, it comes in very handy. This article is about the recent time I had to use it because the sewer dump was 45 feet away.

I hope you enjoy them and perhaps get some useful information from them.
