Howdy ~ Im in Huntington Beach ca – I have an older 3500 Beaver and I am considering taking the ol’ Beav down to Nogales Mexico for a exterior paint job. Do you have any knowledge or experience with that sort of thing…. ! Thanks, jim in HB
Howdy! Nice to hear from Huntington Beach.
From Huntington Beach it’s only 328 miles to San Felipe, Baja, and 550 to Nogales. I’ve been to both places and I would get the job done in San Felipe because of the relaxed atmosphere and availability of competent painters. I’ve had a small job done in San Felipe and also watched a full body job being done there, both times it looked great. My Nogales painting experience is limited, I’ve not read much about the shops there. I believe there’s only one shop there so not a lot of competition…though my info may be out of date.
I’ve gotten quotes and watched some work being done in San Carlos, and had a major job done in Mazatlan along with watching it being done on other RVs. So yeah, I have some knowledge and experience with that sort of thing and would say that you’ll save so much having it done down there that you can’t afford NOT to do it.
Here’s a link to the painting and body work I’ve had done down there: Painting in Mexico
One thing I just noticed is that I never got around to writing up an article about the work I had done in San Felipe a couple years ago, back in early 2016. I’ll have to fix that. [Fixed!]
Also, note that even with the minor problems I had with the painting as pointed out in the articles, I saved so much over having the job done in the US that I was very happy with it. I always felt that I could get touch up done in the US to finish up if needed, but the work looked so good when I got around to selling the RV, I never bothered.
Thank you ! I will look into San Felipe ~ Love that place !
You are welcome! There are two painters there who’s work I’m familiar with. They both do a good job. I should be down there in November and I’m planning on getting some painting done myself.
