Visit to Ensenada…

Last time the article was about arriving at the Guadalupe RV park around 15 miles outside of Ensenada in the wine valley. Today, I explore Ensenada…

First a few pictures of the travel, by car, heading south west from Guadalupe…

Visit to Ensenada…

I am aware that some of these shots might be a bit boring but I was creating a picture album for my brother and his son who were considering moving lock stock and barrel to Mexico, buying a place here in/near Ensenada. Planned on showing them what the countryside looked like here in the Baja, the roads, the traffic, highlights and lowlights, etc. etc.. And then just linking this post to them via email. So there’s actually a method & reason for my madness.

Here is a newer development up in the hills…before getting into Ensenada proper.

Looks like the building is leaning a bit. I hope that’s because the roadbed is tilted to the right…camera angle.

When I got to the outskirts of town, I passed through a major, huge, trucking center. With plots of land housing giant shipping containers stacked 3-4 high, the type you see on those giant ocean going ships. Then there were all the semi’s and huge semi services on both sides of the road. Not to mention the huge potholes and road construction going on. But, I thought that I’d be able to make it in my RV without too much trouble if I decided to move into Ensenada to stay.

Somehow I misplaced some pictures because I toured downtown Ensenada. Can’t find them now. Anyway, after stopping into the Telcel downtown phone assistance building (huge place) and getting some bad news about my phone not working with voice…on the way out of town I stopped at this bar since it was after 4 PM already.

Across the street. Yep, that’s the Pacific.

Kinda cool brew pub, but their signature beer wasn’t all that good. And now headed back to Guadalupe. I did spot a couple RV parks along the way but didn’t stop in, just noted their names so I could look them up on the internet later.

By this time, I’d made friends with one of my neighbors who had Starlink and he, Walter, was kind enough to allow me to piggyback on his internet connection. Was getting up to 48 Mbps via wifi from his RV setup. And he was like 100 yards away. I still hadn’t gotten either of my phones, one with Visible+ which was supposed to be roaming in Mexico, or the Telcel phone, to give me reliable data use so I could attach to the internet via the phones hotspot so his generous offer really helped.

Anyway, headed back to Guadalupe. Showing the countryside for this Valle de Vino.

Tried to get some shots of the vineyards along the way.

Next day heading into the small village of Guadalupe for some shopping and checking things out. The Liz is a general grocery store and right across the street is a cool looking restaurant so after buying my groceries, taking them home and storing them, back into town for dinner.

Very nice presentation of a roasted chicken breast.

And a local wine. Yawn.

Nice little place. Enjoyed my dinner quite a bit. Not exactly what I’d expect from a remote Mexican restaurant (I consider Guadalupe village to be fairly remote from the giant city of Ensenada – 15 miles away) but, interesting.

So that’s it for today. Hope you got a sense of the area a bit. Next time I will have some pictures of Ensenada proper.

Thanks for reading!
