John and I enjoy going out to local bars that have food to sample what’s offered.
And we do that once, twice a week. We have our favorites from years past and tend to visit them instead of seeking out new adventures. I posted pics of them before so didn’t take any new ones this trip. I still want to visit the Nike missile museum but haven’t made it yet. Soon I think.
And of course it was time to make a Tamale Pie. I can get 4 meals out of this.

Good for a quick meal when there’s a game on. Just pop a section into the MW and 5 minutes later, dinner.
Did drive John to the hospital for a minor surgery a couple weeks ago. He didn’t expect it to take too long but…we all know about surgeries and the possibility of problems so arriving at 9:30 AM we were aware that he might not get out until 6 PM or anywhere in between. We’d left his property fairly early, before I usually eat b-fast.
And here’s Banner Hospital.

Had a nice downpour for a few minutes and I noticed some lines on the window right in front of the driver spanning the windshield that tracked the wiper. Didn’t think too much about it.
Anyway, since I missed b-fast I found the cafeteria and discovered the b-fast sandwich place closed at 11 with no left over sandwiches. Wouldn’t open until they’d set up for lunch. Grr. Went to the next door sandwich shop and they hadn’t got their lunch setup done. 20 minutes the guy said. But we have the soup set out already. Okay, got a bowl of chilli soup and holey freeholey was it spicy. Yikes. Later that day there was fire in the hole. Not pleasant.
Anyway, his surgery didn’t take long so I’m driving us back home and the rain is coming down in buckets. Realize that the wiper blades needed replacing and stopped at an O’Reilly’s and they changed them for me. And soon discovered that the scratch on the windshield was permanent. The wiper blade metal assembly and flopped over and was scratching the glass. I knew it was noisy but because of the rain I couldn’t tell it was flopped over. DAMMIT.
So now have to deal with an insurance claim. I have Progressive on the car and pay way too much for it so I’m hoping they cover windshields.
So that’s basically it for the entire month of January. Just lounging around, shopping, avoiding the rain, staying warm. Yes, it gets cold here but nothing below 45F though.
Thanks for reading!
Progressive insurance on my vehicles. Check your policy ’cause I know glass isn’t on mine. And my car has a faint streak and small stone chips. Pie looked like a good idea. Was that a VA hospital? This area was supposed to get a new BIG annex bldg. For years now. Doc told me they asked for bids and didn’t receive offers. Twice. How’s your health? Tomorrow’s Groundhog Day. Early Spring would be great!
Arizona where the glass was damaged REQUIRES insurance cos to ‘offer’ zero deductible glass coverage. Buyer has to actively select it. But I’m an Oregon resident living in AZ so I’ll have to check.
The pie is an old family recipe but sadly, can’t find good Nalley’s chili or tamales called for since their new CEO closed the Tacoma plant and move it to the mid-West. Most stores stopped carrying Nalleys because it’s quality dropped like a stone. So I have to settle for a lower quality pie these days.
No, not a VA hospital. My friend is a vet but doesn’t trust them for his ills so he pays for his own insurance.
My health is excellent. My last full blood work up was better then I expected. All my organs are in good shape. I attribute it to the high quantity of EVOO I use in all my cooking. Even my damaged knees I injured 5 years ago are improving on their own. Haven’t needed to use a cane for over a year now.
I’m not seeing an early spring up in Milton Freewater. Still below freezing every night. Hope you get one.
