6: Damaged In Shipment…

Aug. 27, 2024: Replacement heat pump arrived via FedEx with hidden damage…photo essay.

AirXcel warranty replacement Coleman Mach heat pump arrived in this condition. Note the complete plastic wrap over protective cardboard pieces.

The small tear on the side didn’t seem all that bad, bright sunlight at the time of delivery made inspecting difficult. Pictures taken after shade covered unit.

After removing the plastic warp, it can be seen where the forklift fork or some other pallet was dropped on top…

After removing the plastic wrap, the extent of the damage was clear…and quite a bit more extensive then I’d imagined. After the sun set a bit it was easy to see how much damage there was. Before that, not so easy. I started taking pictures as soon as I saw the damage. Then at the recommendation of FedEx Shipping damage claims department phone tech, I pulled off all the wrapping and cardboard.

Here’s the AirXcel part and serial number tag.

Here’s the FedEx number…I removed and saved the wrapping plastic and cardboard covers.

After removing the lid, more damage was evident.

The oiler cap poppit popped off and it’s evident there was never any oil in the bushing shown here. The squirrel cage fan only spins 3-5 turns before coming to a stop where it should spin 20-25 times with good, well oiled bushing.

Additional shots. In no particular order.
