More from Mexico…

Wasn’t much happening around the RV park, other then giving Walter a hand with his full on off-grid solar setup. I was giving advice, such as it was, about the install and the problems he’d run into on occasion. He had a good grasp of the system already so I just mostly agreed with his assessment of how to do things. One problem he ran into was when he’d installed two 24V to 12V converters. When he rotated the switch, it arc’ed and popped. I agreed they were most likely defective as his wiring was top notch. He sent them back and got replacements and those both worked.

But, on with my tours around the area…decided to head back into Ensenada one day just for a look see. I did stop at two RV parks and one I’d read the reviews on still hadn’t rebuilt the main office. So there’s an entire RV row that lost power during a fire that had been mentioned in a review a year prior…still not rebuilt. None of the wifi extenders worked either so wifi was only near the office where they had jury rigged that setup so it worked, somewhat. And I stopped in at Corona Beach RV and that’s a nice one. So I was thinking to heading there after leaving Guadalupe RV park. Turned out I just headed back to the US instead but that’s for later. Here I’m heading back to that massive shipping area and over on the right are some new homes for sale. Since at that time my brother and cousin were considering moving down here, decided to stop by and take a look on the way back from downtown.

As I drove around the historic district, I really didn’t feel compelled to stop anywhere. Just not the typical old town Mexican city. Not much to excite any interest…just a blah city center. These shots are from old town as they call it.

Well, not much of interest there but thought I’d give you guys a look anyway.

So headed back home and stopped at this very nice coffee bar. Had a very nice cappuccino. This is basically winter here in Ensenada though the weather was a mild 72℉ with a gentle ocean breeze so that explains the place being empty of locals. Too cold for them. The size of the place suggests they get a lot of business though.

And then I stopped in at that housing development and had the saleswoman give me a tour. She took me to three different homes (first two were duplexes, the third a single family 3 story home). It’s a brand new place only been selling for a year.

Pretty nice. That first one was listed at $275,000 USD. Single story, duplex, 1 bath. Even has a private area.

Pretty nice. This is a show home so the furniture was on display, doesn’t come with the home.

This next one was two story, 2 bedroom, bath & 1/2. $325,000 USD. Came with laundry appliances as I recall.

And an office which could be a extra bedroom.

And finally, a three story stand alone with it’s own terrace. The laundry room was on the 3rd story. Yikes. Three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. For $375,000 USD.

Of the three I visited, this was the only one that had a cubby hole for a microwave.

Nice little patio on the 3rd floor.

And across the street from the model home the community pool.

And the community center. Didn’t go inside.

From the roof top, a view off in the direction of Guadalupe where I’m headed next.

And on the way back I choose to stop in at one of the many wineries in the valley. And by the way, the weather looks ominous but it stayed mild the entire time I was wandering.

Arriving at the Winery, it’s right off the main highway. Dirt roads are the norm in this area.

Right at the parking lot is this overdone portal. Seems a waste of good timbers. And orange trees, that’s nice.

There is a bar which I missed getting a picture of, I was the only tourist there. Ordered the sampler of 6 wines. Just a splash of each. Came to $36 freaking bucks. None of them good enough to cause me to buy a bottle. I’ve tried at least nine local wines and have been left underwhelmed.

Leaving the place, past by this interesting rental motel? I think?

Actually built into the hillside on either side. Thought that was a good way to save energy.

After all that, drove back to Ensenada on the back road and headed for that brew pub. Parking lot empty, no one in the place so didn’t stop. Weather was turning sour around this time. Did pass this interesting building…something to do with wine here but there wasn’t much signage.

Got back to the RV around 20 minutes later just in time for it to start raining. And we had a gully washer the rest of the day and long into the night.

And that’s it for this posting. Had a great day. Thanks for reading!
